My grandmother grew up in this tiny village in Barbados, and she was the only kid in the village to have a cricket bat. She used to play with all the boys, but then they started stealing the bat every time she bought it out of the house and saying that she couldn’t play because girls shouldn’t play sport. So one day she invited them to come play cricket, then set fire to the bat and made them watch it burn, so none of them could play cricket anymore. She was 11.

Last day of school tomorrow! Sophomore year went by so fast. It seems like just yesterday I was excitedly posting my schedule and thinking that this would be my year. I remember being so happy to be a level higher than a freshman. After tomorrow, I’ll officially be a junior. I still can’t believe I’m actually in high school and that I’ll be graduating and going to college in 2 years. I now know just how fast time flies by even when it doesn’t seem like it. Here’s to making my last two years of high school count.
